I can’t believe it’s Derby week! April flew by, and May is already here, meaning that it’s officially the season of horse racing, beautiful hats, and colorful dresses.  Unfortunately, with all of those lovely items and fun outdoor activities come allergies.  Luckily, I always have ZYRTEC^® on hand daily to help combat my seasonal allergies.

If you’ve ever attended the Kentucky Derby, then you know that this Run for the Roses occurs right during peak allergy season. Along with my typical allergy symptoms like a runny nose and itchy, watery eyes, I also struggle to keep looking fresh all day when my ALLERGY FACE^® symptoms – puffiness and red nose – flare up.   You also probably know what a struggle it is to conquer allergy symptoms and to keep looking fresh all day when you have puffiness and a red nose.  That’s why today I’m teaming up with ZYRTEC^®  to share my Kentucky Derby beauty secrets to help control that dreaded ALLERGY FACE^® during the most exciting two minutes in sports! I’ve attended the Derby almost every year and these beauty tips for ALLERGY FACE^® never fail me! 

1. Drink Water: I know, I know. You’re probably sick of hearing this, but it really does help.  Staying hydrated throughout the week of Derby is extremely important and actually helps me with my allergies.  
2. Cooling Undereye Patches: I place these under my eyes the moment I wake up! I even place them in the fridge overnight so that they’re extra cool and soothing for my puffiness.
3. Cucumber Slices: For me, there actually is a benefit for utilizing cucumber slices on my eyes! They help soothe my skin and reduce the appearance of puffiness.  Since this is so easy to do, I place these on my eyes the evening prior, as well as the morning of the Derby!
4. Strategically Place Concealer: Try concentrating your concealer below the puffiness, instead of on top of the puffiness.  When placing it below, the dark shadow caused by the puffiness is hidden.
5. Moisturize: It’s important to keep skin moisturized.  I use a thick moisturizer the night before and then a water based gel moisturizer the morning of!
6. Highlight Your Face: It’s amazing what a little bit of highlight can do to provide a healthy glow to distract from your ALLERGY FACE^®.  I stick with golden gel-based highlights and apply it to the high points of my face, including the inner corners of my eyes and underneath my brow.
