5 Ways to Treat Breakouts

If you’ve been following along on stories, then you know that I’ve been facing some maskne.  Is that a word?  Welp, it is now.  Ever since wearing masks with the pandemic, I’ve been experiencing some acne on my face — right where the mask touches my skin.  Keep in mind, I have pretttty sensitive skin, but I typically don’t experience breakouts (luckily).  I usually stick to a basic Tula routine and it has always done the trick for me.  However, with wearing the mask, in combination with sweet summertime (hello, sweaty mess), I’ve been experiencing some pretty bad breakouts.  I’ve just recently switched over to a more breathable linen mask (this is key!), and treating my face with a little extra Tula care with some acne-specific products. Here are my 5 ways to treat breakouts!

Drink Water

This is the golden rule for pretty much everything in life, and I stand by it.  There’s nothing that can help quite like staying hydrated can! Especially since it’s the summertime, I’m making sure that I’m getting all of my H2O in.

Switch to Salicylic Acid and Oil-Free Products

I recently switched up my Tula routine, incorporating their Oil-Free Acne Moisturizer, Acne Clearing + Tone Correcting Gel, and Acne Foam Cleanser. These products have salicylic acid in them, which help treat and prevent breakouts. Their Acne Spot Treatment has also been crazy helpful with my breakouts! Treat your Skin as ‘Sensitive’

I don’t know why, but for my whole life, I’ve always been like “oh, no way, I don’t have sensitive skin…my skin is *so* tough.”  In reality, I have pretty dang sensitive skin.  So treat your skin carefully as if it were sensitive, especially if you’re acne-prone. Some good products are the Tula Milk Cleanser + Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. It is extremely gentle on your skin!

Invest in a Silk Pillowcase

Trust me on this one.  This silk pillowcase changed the game for me! The last thing you want is for all of your expensive skincare to get soaked into your pillowcase and not your skin.

Resist Touching Your Breakout

This is the toughest one for me, because I have a habit of picking! Every time I leave a blemish alone, it goes away and heals 10x faster (so why do I always pick at them?! Ugh!!).  I also like to use these acne healing dots to help prevent touching them.

10/27/18 Mr. & Mrs. White

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.

The Proposal

It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.
