I am SO excited for this Book Review: Round 3! It’s the perfect time to snuggle up on the couch or sit outside by the fire and read a good book. With all of this self-isolation, I’ve been burning through books, but here are a few recent ones that I’ve read and absolutely love. If you follow along on stories, I also share books that I’m currently reading, as well.

This book stole my heart, completely and fully. I raved about this book on stories when I was reading this on vacation, and for good reason. It’s so good that even my photographer and I were talking about it when shooting these photos! I’m afraid that nothing can come close to this book — that’s the kind of effect it had on me. There were so many amazing lessons about marriage and relationships and it left me with a warm feeling (for lack of a better word). So, here’s the scoop: Alice loses her memory due to an accident in her spin class (#bougie) and forgets the last 10 years of her life. She thinks her and her husband are recent newlyweds, expecting their first baby, and she’s very laid back, innocent, and naive (in a good kind of way). However, reality is much different than her limited memories. She and her husband are actually getting a divorce and she lives this high paced busy lifestyle that isn’t what she remembered. This book is all about that raw love experienced at the beginning of a marriage/relationship and how time and stress can change people, causing them to lose their values and forget about what matters most. It was one of those books that made me want to hold onto J and squeeze him. Highly recommend!
Okay look, you’re probably very confused right now, but let me tell ya, this cookbook is 10/10. I received this as a present from my sister and it’s honestly amazing. There are so many great recipes. I love the whole Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart duo (have you watched their videos together? hilarious). So, naturally, I’d love this cookbook. It’s just super lighthearted and funny with a lot of AMAZING recipes in it. It’s like Martha brought the recipe game and Snoop brought the humor game.
This book was one of the first books J and I read into the New Year and it was *so* good! It kept me on the edge of my seat and had so many plot twists — BUT, disclaimer, I did think the ending could have been better. In my opinion, it fizzled out, but the major plot twist honestly made it worth the read. Here’s the story line…Alicia Berenson was convicted of murdering her husband, but hasn’t spoken a word since being convicted. Theo, a psychotherapist, gets a job at the facility where Alicia has been staying for the last 6 years and tries to get her to speak and tell her story. It seems as though Theo has an obsession with helping her, but I guess the good question to ask is why? Don’t let your guard down with this book y’all, because it throws so many twists at you!
Sneaky good, you guys. I could NOT put this book down. Part 1 is in Amber’s perspective: she’s deceitful, manipulative, and trying to con the Parrish family so that she can become the next Mrs. Parrish to the seemingly perfect and successful husband. Part 2 is in Daphne’s perspective: the truth behind it all and what seemingly is perfect…might not actually be as perfect as it seems. A riveting plot, yet at times unsettling, this book is an addicting read that will have you finishing it as quickly as you had picked it up.
Okay, so I love Liane, and if you haven’t read her books, you really should! She’s a great author, in my opinion. Her writing has witty banter, and even though these books are technically ‘chick-lit’, I haven’t been able to find an author who has a similar writing style. Even though the books are ‘chick-lit’, they’re still written in an advanced way, making the books enjoyable to read. There’s nothing I hate more than a ‘chick-lit’ book that has the writing style for a 9th grader. ANYWAYS, another thing I love about Liane’s books is that you will undeniably relate to one of the characters (even if you don’t want to). She has a way of making the characters feel like family and friends, so you’re emotionally invested. If you’re looking for another book to read, I recommend trying The Husband’s Secret. This book, like many of her other books, begins with multiple different perspectives (one of my fave things about her writing style), where you slowly start making connections between each of the perspectives until they all merge at some climactic point. It’s not as great as What Alice Forgot, but it’s definitely a good, light read.

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.
It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
