Hey y’all! Happy {almost} Fourth of July! I love this holiday because all of the patriotic awesome-ness that happens {plus, I have an excuse to wear more navy gingham and stripes}. I always love taking a weekend getaway this time of year, especially when it’s centered around a holiday.
Last weekend, J and I were in desperate need of a quick getaway. We wanted somewhere we can drive to and a resort that had some awesome amenities. I’ve always heard of French Lick Resort — West Baden Springs Hotel, located in Indiana {only 60 minutes from Louisville}, but I’ve never managed to make it up there to give it a go. It was a super quick trip, but totally worth the relaxation!
Indiana is right across the river from us and there are so many fun and beautiful places to visit there! I think our next weekend getaway should be in Indy!
The room at West Baden Springs Hotel was *super* cozy. It was a little bit traditional, in terms of decor, but it vibed well with the rest of the hotel. If you look out the window, you can see the atrium with everyone walking around and doing activities!
I threw on my robe and indulged in some coffee upon arrival.
Naturally, J and I had to visit the fitness center. It was a decently sized facility with a bunch of great weight-training machines! It’s located in the spa, and I’m determined to schedule a massage the next time I come to visit — the spa is seriously beautiful and so serene.
We explored the atrium, played a little chess, and walked around!
They have the prettiest outdoor scenery, so grab a coffee {or glass of wine} and chill on one of their cozy rocking chairs!
Happy hour came *a little* early for us, but that’s okay. I’m not complainin’!
We nibbled on some charcuterie, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and their asian sesame salad. Since it was between meals, we had eaten at Ballard’s in the Atrium. Their in house restaurant is Cafe Sinclair’s, and is also quite tasty!
Can’t forget dessert! We kept walking around the hotel and smelling some incredible stuff coming from Xanadu Coffee & Creamery. I had to make a pit stop for some ice cream, especially with this heat wave we’ve been having!
Overall, this was such a relaxing and fun Indiana weekend getaway. If you’re in the area, I would make my way over and Plan Your Trip to French Lick to check out what they have to offer!

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.
It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
You should see it during the holidays!! My family goes for Thanksgiving sometimes and the whole place just lights up so beautifully! I’m from Indy and I absolutely agree you should make your next weekend getaway here. Lots of food, drinks, and gyms for y’all to try out!
