Photo Tip Thursday: Diopter Adjustment

Have you ever noticed that your subject looks kind of blurry when looking through the viewfinder even after you’ve focused? Well if you have, then this post is for you. This week we’ll talk about adjusting the camera’s diopter.
Obviously every person’s eyes have their own unique characteristics. Some of us are nearsighted, some farsighted, some need contacts and some don’t. This is where the diopter comes in. It’s a tiny wheel labeled usually with a “+/-” sign that’s nestled right between the rubber eyecup and the actual viewfinder on your D-SLR that fine tunes the viewfinder to your eyes. Moving the wheel allows you to adjust the viewfinder to suit your particular vision needs.
To adjust it, remove the lens from the camera body and look through the viewfinder, pointing the camera at a soft, diffused source of light {like a window for example} and move the wheel back and forth paying close attention to the sharpness of the focus points in the viewfinder. You’ll notice that as you move certain directions, the focus points will get either more out of focus or sharper. Stop turning the wheel when they’re at their sharpest. Then re-attach the lens and you’re ready to go! Diopter adjustments are crucial to ensuring that your focusing is accurate.

10/27/18 Mr. & Mrs. White

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.

The Proposal

It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.

Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
