Photo Tip Thursday: Changing Perspective

This post is all about convincing you to try shooting at different angles when taking outfit photos. If there’s one thing I’ve found out while learning how to shoot Grace’s photos, it’s that certain parts of the outfit are more photographically flattering when captured at different angles other than the standard straight on angle.

When taking full body shots, have your photographer squat down and capture you and your outfit from a lower position looking up every once in a while. These shots look much more prominent and candid. Taking photos from a lower position also changes how the background looks in the photos.

Because this photo was taken from a lower angle, the trees become the much more prominent feature in the background that frames the subject, rather than the road.

Try shooting at a downward angle when photographing watches and rings on the hands instead of shooting them straight on. It creates a unique perspective, making them stand out and become the center of focus in the photo.

Lastly, when it comes to the shoes, get down and dirty. Photographer willing, get them down as low as you possibly can to the ground and then take shoe pictures there. Getting low to the ground lends much more depth to images of footwear that would be lost if they were taken from a standing position. Taking footwear images from low angles isolates the shoes from the foreground and background much more effectively.

Awesome tips Grace! Especially the ones for capturing jewelry! I will for sure be coming back to these posts when I launch my new fashion series.

    Thanks :]

10/27/18 Mr. & Mrs. White

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.

The Proposal

It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.

Dark Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread

One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
