Spotlight: Laura Row Studio

I’m so excited for today’s spotlight with Laura Row Studio!  Laura is a watercolor artist that focuses on frivolity.  She paints literally all things fabulous and trust me when I say, it’ll make the decor in your room instantly chic.  I mean, how fab is this macaron painting, this Chanel perfume painting, or even this Audrey Hepburn painting {I’m obsessed–Audrey is my idol}.  Oh, and ya can’t forget that she’s giving away one of her chic paintings! All you have to do is enter below…but first, I asked Laura some questions to get to know her and her studio better:
What is your favorite painting that you’ve ever made? That would be the custom house portrait I did for my grandmother. She’s a very sentimental lady, and ever since her mother died she has been unable to visit her childhood home, now owned by someone else. My mother had one old picture of the house, and told me to paint it as she remembered it, with hydrangeas blooming, letter box at the front door, and patio furniture on the porch, where they would often sit outside. I loved giving it to her, and I know that it is very close to her heart. 
What different kind of themed custom paintings are your most popular? My custom house portraits are definitely very popular, as gifts for anniversaries, Christmas, etc. I can customize them how you like, with pets in the yard, flowers blooming, etc. I am also very excited to offer custom Wedding Day collages now, a very special gift you can give to a new couple to remember all of the special things about their wedding. I give these as gifts to most of the weddings I attend, and the bride and groom always love them! They are my absolute favorite to paint! 

What vibe does a watercolor painting give as opposed to others? Watercolors have a very light-filled look to them, while other types of paintings can tend to look heavy. The effects of watercolors are also beautiful, so leaving brushstrokes visible gives them so much life. 

How did your interest in art begin? I always loved to draw, from a very young age. The appeal in painting is creating your own interpretation of beauty, and being able to do that is very liberating. I was always inspired by art history, and painters of the 18th and 19th century. During my graphic design studies, I took an illustrative approach, and that has provided my watercolor art with a strong backing.

Where do you get your inspiration? I am an avid reader, and that to me gives a lot of visual inspiration. I love old movies, and I love to delve into art history. Fashion magazines, especially foreign editions, have great editorials. And honestly, I get some of the greatest ideas from my friends and family, so I always pay attention to them! 

What is your favorite macaron flavor? Cinnamon Raisin, delicious! Laduree created a special NYC themed flavor, for their New York opening, and it is so good!

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.
