Over the weekend, I was hanging out with a few of my sister’s friends. And everyone seemed to be all about the lip. Lip color, lip gloss, lip matte, lip fullness, (ya get what I mean). I was thinking to myself though, and realized that I’m not all about the lip this summer. During the summer, I practically ignore the lip. I usually go for either a matte neutral color, or just plain ol’ chapstick to keep those suckers moist. For some reason, I always just wear my bold lip colors during the fall and winter (for those who have seen my old posts, you know my faves: fuschia, matte red, and plum). I think it’s because in the summer, less is more sometimes, ya know? Less foundation and more moisturizer, less bold eye makeup and more neutral shadows, peach on the cheekies instead of bright pink, and so on. But then again, go big or go home people. So maybe bright lips is what we need! What are your all’s thoughts on summer lips and makeup?

There’s not a day that goes by when I don’t feel so blessed to be Jordan’s wife. He is my everything. These photos and video are the sweetest reminder of our love for one another. So, grab a cup of coffee, pull up a seat, and try not to bawl your eyes out (because I know we did). Every time we look through our photos and watch our video, we cry the happiest tears.
It’s crazy what can happen in a year. I met the love of my life and the rest is history. I was having a hard time ending this post, because frankly, I think I could talk about that evening forever. Then I realized that this post doesn’t have an ending, but instead, a beginning. Thank you so much for all of the love, excitement, and gratitude.
One of my favorite things to do in the fall is bake my dark chocolate chip pumpkin bread! I’ve made it *so* many times for me, J, and friends & family. It’s moist, decadent, and super easy to make! It also makes for a great DIY housewarming gift.
Wow! Awesome skirt, that is so perfect for summer!

i look pretty bad in a bold lip, so regardless of the weather, i usually stick with chapstick. i love this dress/shirt combo on you!
You look great in this outfit!
My Own Project
I know what you mean about the maxi dresses being too short for the taller girls, I did just discover that Victoria's Secret sells their maxis in regular and tall sizes, I am anxious to make an order. I love the colors you paired here, perfect for summer! And I agree with you on your summer makeup philosophy, less is more!

This outfit seems so un-Grace like..not your norm..but me likey!
I have the SAME problem with maxis. I just have maxi skirts because then I can make them long enough.
Ooh I love the colors in your maxi! I have the opposite problem with the maxis…they all seem like they're made for 6 foot tall models and I could probably fit two of me in there.
I don't normally wear lipstick so it's a non issue for me. I will wear less makeup when it's 90 degrees out so it's not melting off my face 🙂

Love that bright maxi on you! Perfect for summer with your chic pony! I am all about easy-peasy summer make-up, with a little bit of lip action when going out at night!

Here&Now
Mango is genious for maxi dresses, their sizez is perfect for the "model body", meaning high and thin :))
and I agree, lipstick is usually something I don't care much about on a genral basis really, I use balm, that's it. Unless I'm doing red lips, bright pink or something like that as a statement…
Love the outfit! xx

Love this maxi!!!!! So pretty and love your layering over it! I am the same way!!!! I have two maxis that actually go down to my feet but my third, which I love too much to let go of, is awkward to my ankles too 🙁 Oh well! Just another one of those hard things to find no matter how tall/short you are! Looking great!

I love the skirt, looks amazing on you. x
I stay pretty neutral with my summer make up too, OR if I'm feeling particularly adventurous with my lips I break out the pomegranate flavored Burt's Bees for a slight bit of color, whoa whoa whoa!! 😉
Annnyway (am I wearing out the whoa joke? haha) that skirt has loads of personality. I like it!

I like neutral make up, it shows more of a natural look and your real self.
I love the print of your maxi!!! You look great!

I love that skirt!
I want to invite you to join the RIRE giveaway on my blog
I definitely agree about the summer makeup you're talking about! I hardly bother to put any on during the heat. It just feel too clogging and just melts off anyway.
Anyway, LOVE that maxi skirt! The print and colors are just fantastic ♥

your skirt is soooo cute!
You look SO pretty Grace, the maxi is perfect:) And I completely understand what you mean about makeup in summer, I also like to 'liven' up my makeup in winter! Xx
LOVE that maxi skirt, the colors are so pretty! I'm not much of a makeup person, especially lipstick.. especially in the summers. Sometimes it's just too hot! 🙂

You look great!!

I have been rather neglectful of the lip lately as well. Summertime usually means vitamin c serum, spf, bronzer, mascara done. It's all going to melt off anyway right? haha
xo SideSmile,
Ashley
and i love you outfit..le duh ; )
I have the opposite problem with maxi skirts/dresses…they're always so long on little old me. I agree with you about lips – in the winter I always wear bright matte lipstick but in the summer, I don't know, I always feel like its going to melt off and get all over the place. For summer I'm all about the glowy blush + bright nails!
I have the same problem with maxis, it's always too long or just a tad too short. That one looks fafnastic on you, I love the colors,
your maxi dress has so many colors, it looks so awesome! All my maxi dresses are waaay to long for me, so I have to wear very high heels otherwise I would step on my dress. Wait just kidding, I only have one maxi dress…
You are so gorgeous, I am loving this colourful maxi

I really like how in your description you described yourself as an awkward turtle, haha! Cute cute.
This outfit is lovely! It's so neat how you paired such a soft pastel colored shirt with an exciting skirt like that! Nice contrast. 😀
As far as makeup goes, mine pretty much stays the same aaaaall year long, though in the summer since my skin tone gets a wee bit tanner from the sun I tend to wear less foundation. Then on holidays I might change my eyeshadow (sparkles for christmas? pastels on easter?) just barely, but not too much! I'm so plain and bad with change, haha!
You look great! What a nice match! 🙂
See you soon,

Ha, I have the exact opposite problem. I have to pull maxi skirts up till they're right under my boobs and I still have to wear heels with them! lol I absolutely LOVE the colors in that skirt. It's beautiful!
Love the skirt! And wow, your tan…you look incredible. Very jealous 🙂
Hi Grace, I am majorly crushing on this darling outfit, that skirt is a fabulous style statement, love it! You look so pretty!
I absolutely love this skirt girly! So bohemian chic!
I completely love the maxi dress! It is perfect! And I really love the combination with the shirt, a look 10!
Have a nice day and happy summer x
Heeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy, I love that skirt! The pattern is awesome. I'm not really a huge lip girl either (that sounds weird, but you know what I mean), so I tend to just stick with tinted chapstick. High class over here!
ABSOLUTELY love this look grace! i'm all about the tie-dye and i've been knotting my shirts like no one's business all summer long. the perfect mix of classic + trendy!
xoxo
such a cute maxi skirt

Such a pretty maxi! And I'm with you on the summer lips – I'm all about burt's bees regular ole' chapstick. It's too hot to wear lipstick (that doesn't make any sense, but it is).
I love love love this dress! So cute. I deffinitly have the same problem that the dresses/skirts are too short and it shows your ankle which just looks silly!
I am not a huge fan of lipstick, I like more neutral colors and then maybe playing up your eyes 🙂
Less is more for sure in the summer… xo

I hear you, girl. Usually it's flats with maxi's for me too or else my skinny chicken ankles stick out of the bottom and it's not pleasant for anyone involved!
Love this combo of colors and the front-tied blouse. Looks fantastic :).

I totally love this outfit! You look stunning in it and it makes your tan pop out even more! The colours of that skirt are great! paired with that simple shirt just makes it perfect, this is something I would wear immediately!
